Customize Your Timer: Focus and Break Lengths
Tomatoro ships with the classic rhythm — 25 minutes of focus, a 5-minute short break, and a 15-minute long break. It's a great starting point, but it's not a rule. Here's how to make it yours.
Where the settings live
Your timer lengths live in Settings, under your account. Open it from the account menu — you'll need a free account so your preferences sync across devices.
Adjust your three lengths
In Settings you can set:
- Focus — how long each work session runs.
- Short break — the quick reset between sessions.
- Long break — the longer rest after a few rounds.
Changes save automatically and apply to your next session.
Find a rhythm that fits
Not everyone thrives on 25/5. A few popular alternatives:
- 50 / 10 — fewer, longer dives for deep work.
- 15 / 3 — short, frequent bursts when focus is hard to hold.
- 90 / 20 — one big block built around your natural attention cycle.
Experiment for a week, check your reports, and keep what feels sustainable.
