How to Read Your Tomatoro Reports
Every pomodoro you finish is logged automatically. Reports turn that raw stream of sessions into something you can actually learn from. Here's how to read each view.
The color key
Three colors show up everywhere in your reports. They map to the three kinds of segment:
- Red — work (focus) sessions
- Yellow — short breaks
- Green — long breaks
Once you know the key, every chart reads at a glance.
Focus time vs. tomatoes
Two headline numbers anchor every report:
- Focus time counts work only. Breaks don't pad it — this is real time spent focused.
- Tomatoes is the count of completed segments. It's about volume and rhythm, not duration.
A day with long, deep sessions and a day with many short ones can have similar tomato counts but very different focus time. Reading both together tells the real story.
The Day report
The default view. It shows:
- Focus today — your total work time, with a vs. average delta so you know if today is above or below your recent norm.
- Today's harvest — every segment of the day as tomatoes in order, so you can see the shape of your day at a glance. Empty so far? A faint placeholder tomato is waiting for your first session.
- Hour by hour — a timeline of when your focus actually happened, which is great for spotting your most productive windows.
The Week report
Switch to Week for the seven-day picture:
- Total focus time with a vs. last week percentage.
- A stacked bar chart, Monday through Sunday, using the same red / yellow / green key — so you can see both your volume and your work-to-break balance per day.
The Month report
The Month view zooms out to the whole month:
- A calendar heatmap where each day's shade reflects how much you focused — darker means more focus time. Streaks and gaps jump right out.
- Active days and a vs. last month trend.
The monthly view is a Premium feature.
Top tasks
If you tag your sessions with tasks, every report adds a per-task breakdown: which tasks took your focus, how many tomatoes each one earned, and the share of your time they took. It's the fastest way to see where your hours really went. Task breakdowns are part of Premium.
Put these techniques to work. Tomatoro turns every article into an actionable focus session.
